Unexpected Tour of NYC

Years from now, we’ll still be gushing with delight when we remember how we spent Christmas Eve 2011.  Missing our connecting flight to be with family in Miami could have resulted in a dull and frustrating December 24th at a New Jersey airport.  But, sometimes when life throws you a lemon, you really can make lemonade!

Sans winter clothing (we were supposed to be in Florida), we hoped the train to Penn Station in downtown Manhattan.  First stop was the Empire State Building on a bright, crisp sunny morning.  Next, we toured Manhattan in an open bus (cold, but incredible!)  Through the passionate eye and cutting NYC humour of our tour guide, Carol, we saw everything from Times Square to the Soup Nazi’s restaurant.   A Welcome to NYC brochure said it all:  ”Don’t worry that you won’t have time to see everything… you’ll be back.”

And, YES, we certainly will!
